The Pathless Land

Pathless

“A good traveller has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.” – Lao Tzu.

The Linear Mind

The mind is linear by nature. It puts things in order. It categories stuff into boxes to make sense of reality. This is a product of evolution/creation, and a necessity for a healthy functioning ego. But it isn’t Actuality/Truth.

By virtue of the mind’s structure we get a sense of causality. A to B to C to D…

As Dr David Hawkins said, there is always an X causing a Y. “The world that the ego pictures is a projection of its illusions and arbitrary positionalities. No such world exists.”

Remove the linear mind from this equation. Remove the categorisation of ‘things’, and it’s revealed that there is no causality. Life is an ‘arising’ of potentiality that is experienced by an individual point of consciousness. Physics and related sciences may call this potentiality, ‘the field’. It has countless names in the mystical and religious traditions.

Unfolding Of Potentiality

At higher levels of consciousness, causality is realised as a product of the limited human mind.

Experiencing Life as an infinite, boundless, unconditioned, limitless ocean of _____ (no word possible), it’s recognised that there is no path to take. Nowhere to get to. Nothing to ‘fix’. This is The Pathless Land.

Everything is whole and pure in its completeness. With its evolutionary limitations (hence categorisations), only the mind thinks something needs to change and ‘be different’ to the way it is.

The is no quality that can be put onto ‘the field’. That would be another categorisation, proving the limitations of one of the mind’s most complex creations – language.

In my opinion, the manifestation of matter (unfolding) and ‘physical reality out of ‘the field’ is the metaphoric representation of ‘The Fall’ in Genesis of the Bible.

Life Is Inherently Meaningless

As I’ve written about before, Life is inherently meaningless.

Unconditioned potentiality has no meaning. Meaning and purpose is a product of the Human. For example, does a dog give meaning to Life? Does a dog have a path that it lays out for itself in search of fulfilment?

The unmanifest, or that from which everything arises, is limitless in its potential. Limitlessness cannot have meaning, as there is nothing outside of itself to give it quality.

Being comfortable with the actuality that there is no meaning or purpose to Life is the ultimate freedom. Removing from the idea of ‘a life purpose’ opens one up to focus intentional energy in the direction that provides the most joy.

Create Your Path.

I often think it’s wise to consider Life as a game. You can take it as seriously as you like and contextualise reality as you choose.

Many of us cling to the idea that we’re unique in some way and have a grand purpose for our existence. It’s a lovely thought, and the ego thrives off such notions. But it’s a fallacy.

Suppose we consider games that we play on consoles. We have linear games and non-linear games (often called Sandbox games). With linear games, the character has a set path, and the game always travels in one direction. With Sandbox games, there is a much greater degree of complexity and creativity. You can take the character in any direction one wishes and create something within the game’s rules.

Consider Life as a sandbox game. Whether it is or isn’t is irrelevant. Creativity is the process of evolution/creation through the human mind.

Truth is pathless, but the direction you take your Life is intentional.

Human Creativity as Divine Manifestation.

With intentionality comes Creativity. That which resonates at higher levels of consciousness tends to manifest itself.

In the true sense of the word, Creativity is a tool for Divinity to express itself. We often say that certain types of people are creative types – artists, musicians, literature etc., but the reality is that we’re all creating, all of the time.

What we consider beauty is usually of higher levels of consciousness. What we consider ugly are of lower levels. Commonly, you can tell the stage of a civilisation by the architecture. There is something to this.

To become more Creative, it seems to require one to become a vessel for Divine expression. Figuring out how to do that is on the individual. No two are the same.

If there is something to tattoo on the inside of your eyelids, it’s this – Truth Is All That Is.

“I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. That is my point of view, and I adhere to that absolutely and unconditionally. Truth, being limitless, unconditioned, unapproachable by any path whatsoever” – Jiddu Krishnamurti
